Quidditch Shenanigans
Prof. Tarma Amelia Black
March 2016
Quidditch Shenanigans was germinated when Professor Cosmo B. Mott noticed that month-long gap between Term Games. She suggested that Quidditch Board come up with some sort of Shenanigans – and we did.
Professor Cody Lewis and I sort of stopped our friendly rivalry for who was going to win the Quidditch Cup (okay, that's a joke, we didn't really stop...) and thought – what shall we do? We wanted something for each Saturday in #quidditch and something for the HOL forum too. Quidditch involves everyone! People who are dedicated to getting on those broomsticks and going out and getting Bludgered and those who are the support team for them. So Cody came up with things to do in #quidditch for everyone who would show up in there (with a finale of actual Quaffle play on the last Saturday) and we created two forum activities to do each week.
The sign-up sheet was posted on January 23, 2016 and many people showed their desire to play. Then, on January 30, 2016, everyone who had signed up were put on a team. The teams were Team Pink and Team Purple. A random-ish selector was used for almost everyone. Only Cody and I were not in that Random Selector thing, because he had to be on one team and I the other. Arielle was asked to choose heads or tails, tails being purple and heads being pink. She said 'tails' and I (moaned and complained and grumbled) cheerfully accepted to be on Team Purple and Cody happily claimed his Team Pink. Folks were welcome to sign up through the end of the activity and we just placed them (again randomly) on teams.
Team Pink ended up with a sign-up of 20 people and Team Purple with 19. We started off with the forum activities on January 30, 2016. On February 6th, we had our first game activity in #quidditch. Over the four weeks of activities in #quidditch, Cody arranged for us to play individual games (including Horse, Xany, and Creaothceann) and team games (where, in some instances, the expertise of the player ensured that they got kicked out first – good-bye Mr. Cody from Quodpot!) Cody also held rookie rounds of the individual games, so literally everyone could earn points for their teams.
Forum activities ranged from sending a valentine to a member of the opposite team and making a uniform to solving a jigsaw and writing a team cheer.
All participants could earn both team points and beans completing forum activities. People who participated in the #quidditch activities earned beans. The teams themselves or individuals of the teams, earned team points, depending upon the game played. You can see summaries [HERE].
As it turned out, Team Purple won the Quidditch Shenanigans over Team Pink by a fairly narrow margin (less than 100 points).
The teams and the people who participated from each team –
Purple – Allyson Celestra, Arianna Stonewater, Arielle Lemoyne, Ashley Margaret, Cassandra Remington, Cliodna Levebre, Kim Alting, Leonie Hauri, Marcie Hobber, Maxim Trevelyan, Meredith Malkins, Polaris Black, Prof. Fumei Spookie, Prof. Scarlet Leslie-Lewis, Prof. Tarma Amelia Black, Rosalie Mason, Will Lestrange
Pink – Alice Gistrene, Bull J. Johnson, Darcey Goode, February Fortescue, Ivelisse Ada, Joey Stark, Maleficent Malkins, Matilde Rayne, Maxwell Shadow, Niniel Sanders, Prof. Amy Lupin, Prof. Cody Lewis, Prof. Rorey Padfoot, Riliey Starshine, Rosemarie Halliwell, Rowan Dream, Sapphire Riddle, Siobhan Burke, Wicket Wilcox
It was great fun – and thank you everyone who helped to make it so.
