My Dungeons Adventures, Part 1 (Based on a true story)
Sirius Fudge
March 2017
As I am writing this, I am on my way to the Dungeons, again! Whoever is doing this makes sure I get to spend some adventures of some sort in the chilly Dungeons. After all, it is the closest common room from the Sett.
It started one day, around midday. I was going to the Sett after lunch when I cannot enter the Sett. I was sure that I tapped the barrels right, in the right rhythm, notes, order, among others. The barrel door didn't budge. It did not open. I was trapped outside. Unfortunately, there are no badgers roaming around that I can share my situation with. I was panicking that time as I still have OWLs to pass that week. I then remembered the Room of Requirement. A door appeared and I entered. There was a comfortable chair and a table, brand new quills and parchments, for the taking.
The thing with the Room of Requirement is that you get too comfortable to go outside the room. I spent the whole entire afternoon and night in there. I just noticed that it was already 1 AM. I again tried the barrels. Still, I cannot enter. I then decided to seek help from the closest neighbors, the Slytherin Dungeons.
It was eerily silent and uncomfortably cold in the corridor outside the Dungeons door. I yelled through the wall, "Is there a place in the Dungeons where people from other houses (who cannot enter their common rooms) can sleep peacefully? I hope that I cannot be summoned from that room while I asleep. Thank you Slytherin for adopting me." The door opened and two people appeared, smiling. Prof. Amy Lupin and prefect Will Lestrange were there. Amy welcomed me with the words: "Welcome to the Dungeons, Sirius! I'm sure we can find somewhere for you. Hopefully Hufflepuff won't mind if we don't return you." She giggled. Will followed it up. "Normally, visitors sleep by the fireplace. Brabas often comes by for a visit; he is very snuggly!"
With a slight tinge or regret, I thought that I forgot to take into account Slytherin and their weird choice of pets. At that time, another prefect named Arianna Stonewater appeared and said, "If you prove to Brabas you're not a hatchling, you should be safe!" I asked, "Can I have a Brabas-proof room?" Will answered, "Yes, I forgot that not all visitors enjoy cuddling with Lethifolds. I'll tell Brabas to stay in my bed for the night!" With this, I let out a sigh of relief.
I then remembered something: Hufflepuff and the Room Decoration Committee. My thoughts are in the dilemma if I locked the door of my room. I hoped that my room is still sane when I return. I was satisfied two days later that minimal and tolerable changes were applied by the committee to my room. I stayed two nights in the Dungeons, having locked again the next day when he overslept in the library, making homework. I was most thankful for the Room of Requirement, that would supply me with my badger cloaks and things.
In my stay in the Dungeons, I learned a thing or two. Snakes have their game of summoning people, forcing them to appear in the common room. I had my turns of summoning people, some appeared and some not. It was fun! I also learned that the previous headmaster Snape is everyone's hero in the Dungeons. Of course, it is well deserved. I was thankful to have the Dungeons whenever the barrel doors of the Sett fails me. I need to improve my relationship with that barrel door. Anyway, thank you Dungeons! Until next time!
NOTE: As you can see, I wrote Part I in my title. It happened again. I am on my way to the Dungeons. The barrel door is again locked.
