Harry Potter Read-Along Update

October 2017
We've opened a new school year with the start of Book 4: Goblet of Fire! Slytherin's Read-Along is open to all houses and helps us reminisce about the books that brought us together at a leisurely pace – one chapter a week. Each week starts a new chapter, new tasks, and more daily trivia!
You can join at any time! The tasks are available to earn full scales (the Slytherin points system) for one week, and you can still earn half scales if you post by the end of the month it was posted in. Here's what we've done so far:
Chapter 1 – The Riddle House
In doing some research, we discovered that 200 miles from our towns were places of interest, just as 4 Privet Drive was 200 miles from the Riddle House (Did you know Prof. Tarma is only 200 miles from the home of Edward, Bella and Jacob?). We also shared some ideas about how we would fix up the Riddle House to find some new owners! While most of us would want to fix up the house first, Shiloh would totally play up the spookiness and sell it as a haunted house!
Chapter 2 – The Scar
As we read about Harry after waking up, we also read pages from Common Magical Ailments and Afflictions (including the cure/reduction of levitation in the case of billywig stings and the cure for depression) while discussing what warm place Sirius might currently be hiding out in with possible postcards. BJ and Prof. Scarlet both suggested he'd be on a warm island somewhere!
Chapter 3 – The Invitation
Dudley's on a diet, but that doesn't have to be a bad thing! We shared some healthy recipes (vegan burgers anyone?) and some really cool stamps that might have been on the letter Mrs. Weasley sent. Prof. Scarlet shared a portion of her father's stamp collection with us!
Chapter 4 – Back to the Burrow
There are many ways to travel that the Dursleys are unaware of - including Floo Powder! We discussed our ideal fireplaces (2/3 would want an electric over wood-burning) and the special days we count down to, like the start of Slyth-o-ween and the opening of the Nutcracker ballet!
