This past summer I got very interested in read-a-thons. A read-a-thon is an event where you will have a certain number of books to read, or you might pick a number and try to reach it. It is often a fundraiser in schools, where a participant gets sponsors that will donate a certain amount of money per book or reading session. There are also themed read-a-thons, which I think are the most fun.
I did a magical read-a-thon, which was awesome. You chose a magical career; I chose librarian. Each career had a few subjects you had to take and each subject had a book prompt.
My subjects were:
I formed a TBR (to be read) list and started reading pretty much immediately. I did a couple of reading sprints, where all you do is read for a certain amount of time. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to finish the read-a-thon, but it was so much fun! I encourage everyone to try one at some point.

- History of Magic – published at least 10 years ago
- Arithmancy – work written by more than one author)
- Defense Against the Dark Arts – title starts with 'R'
- Ancient Runes – retelling
- Transfiguration – sprayed edges or red cover
